SAFE CYCLING

The City of Belleville recently won a Bicycle Friendly Community Bronze Award when it supported local cycling clubs and recognized that bike lanes encourage safe cycling on our roads. Plans are underway to build more cycling infrastructure in Belleville.

Local and national cycling organizations remind us that a bicycle is a vehicle that belongs on the road.

Cyclists have the same rights and responsibilities as drivers of motor vehicles. Traffic laws protect everyone on our roads. (Canada Safety Council).

Community organizations work with local partners to encourage improvements and create safe and supportive infrastructure for cyclists of all ages.

Hopefully, bike lanes will also serve as a visual cue to drivers to consciously think about cyclists around them and to remember to share the roads.

Cycling can be a healthy, economical and planet friendly alternative to driving.

Find out why Belleville is in the news for supporting safe cycling initiatives.
